LG announced their newest flagship, the G2, this morning at their NYC launch event, and we were there to get you the full scoop.

Unsurprisingly, the specs that were announced are pretty much in line with all of the details that were leaked earlier, throughout the weeks and months leading up to this event.

The phone features innovative design elements such as volume and power buttons on the back of the device, where your index finger is located when you are in a phone call. This gives the user easy access to “Quick Memo” as well as the ability to snap a “selfie” using a button on the back. This new feature comes with promises of less smartphone drops. Instead of operating the smartphone with the same fingers that are holding it in your hand, you will now use your fingers which reside on the rear of the device.

Now let’s get to the specs:

The phone packs a 3,000 mAh battery, a 5.2-inch full HD 1080p IPS display with an ultra-thin bezel of 1/10 of an inch, a 13-MP camera with an optical image stabilizer (OIS), 2 GB RAM, 24 bit 192 KHz Hi-Fi Sound, a 2.3 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, and much more.

The G2 also includes some really nice software features that are sure to change the smartphone industry.

First is “Guest Mode,” which can be used when giving the phone to a friend to use. This feature ensures that your privacy will be protected, and it’s super-easy to activate. All you have to do is unlock the phone using a different code than your personal unlock code, which will be assigned to “Guest Mode.” This unlocks the phone, only allowing certain features to be used.

The “Knock On” feature allows users to tap on the phone instead of reaching for the power button to turn on the display. This will definitely minimize the time it will take for your hand to wrap around the gargantuan 5.2-inch display to press on the power button.

“Answer Me” allows users to answer phone calls without a touch. All you have to do is put phone up to your ear and the phone will sense that you are ready to take your call.

“Text Link” allows you to tap on any text displayed on the device to quickly perform a Google search on the text with just one touch. This simplifies a lot of the actions we do with our phones on a day-to-day basis, making many processes much more efficient.

Oher features such as “QuickRemote” allows for the control of all home electronics, “SlideAside” lets you move freely between apps making multitasking easier than ever before. The “Plug and Pop” feature opens a bottom bar of the apps you are most likely to use when you plug your headset in to the phone’s 3.5 mm jack.

The phone will be available on select carriers around the world, including the four major carriers in the United States (Verizon, Sprint, AT&T, and T-Mobile.)

To wrap up the show, LG closed with an awkward choir boy singing by himself on the stage, surely to let everyone know that Life’s Good.

More details on the G2 to come throughout the day— stay tuned.
