The camera of the LG G2 is another characteristic of the phone that the company further emphasized during the New York-based event.
Looking strictly at hardware, we have a 13-megapixel main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) and a front-facing 2.1-megapixel camera.
Naturally, LG focused – no pun intended – on the main shooter of the smartphone, a camera that offers advanced features, as previously rumored.
For starters, to turn on the camera, you simply have to long-press one of the buttons placed on the back, right underneath the camera. Furthermore, the camera itself uses anti-fingerprint, durable sapphire glass, so you won't have to worry about touching it by mistake when looking for the buttons and leaving your fingerprints all over the glass.
The optical images stabilization feature is supposed to offer better, blur-free images and videos, and it's certainly a feature not seen in many other smartphones. In fact, LG says that the 13-megapixel camera on the LG G2 is the first such phone camera to offer OIS, without the added bulk.
Interestingly, LG also offered a camera performance comparison between the LG G2 and two competing devices whose identities it tried to conceal – the iPhone 5 and the Galaxy S4 – suggesting that even when zooming in, the camera can offer a better pictures than the competition thanks to OIS use.
However, we'll have to see how the camera performs in our future review of the device. We’ll further add that we expect the Galaxy Note 3′s main camera to also have OIS features.
