Sony Honami UI and apps brought to life and caught on video through modded Xperia Z

So the LG G2 has finally been announced, and somehow you weren’t dazzled by it, which is why you’re still holding out for something else like an upcoming phone from Sony tentatively named the Honami. Well, can’t blame you. After all, who could say no to a phone that touts full 4K resolution video recording on a 20-megapixel camera as one of its many new features? We’d like to think no one can.

Anyway, if you’re really keen on getting your actual hands on a Sony Honami as soon as possible, you should know what you don’t even really have to wait anymore. We told you about the fact that the Sony Honami camera app had already been ported to current Xperia smartphone models a little over a month ago. Now, it appears that the entire Honami software set — UI and apps included — has been made available for use. Through a custom ROM that’s made for models like the Xperia Z, that is.

Perhaps you aren’t feeling quite that adventurous just yet. Maybe instead of going all out and installing a custom ROM on an existing phone — so you can see what kind of niceties come included with every unit when they finally come out — you just want to watch how the UI works and how to apps run from a short distance. You can do that, too.

An online video made by YouTube user Ashton Tekno gives us our first look at the Sony Honami, albeit only in software form. The video lasts a little over 12 minutes long, and shows us some of the phone’s nifty new features which apparently include the ability to record incoming and outgoing phone calls, as well as pick an Equalizer preset during said phone calls.

Why are you even still reading this? Just watch the video below and you’ll see it for yourself.
