Oppo might not be a giant in the Android world, but the smaller Chinese player did make a fair amount of waves with its previous flagship, the Oppo Find 5. Hoping to take things to the next level, Oppo hasn’t been shy about teasing, leaking and advertising the heck out of the Oppo N1.

Today the teasing ends, as the company has now officially taken the veil of its latest flagship!

As expected, the Oppo N1 puts a great deal of focus into its photo-taking capabilities, with the handset featuring a unique 13MP shooter with an aperture of f/2.0, 6-element lens, dual-LED and the ability to rotate 206 degrees. Thanks to its rotatable design, the back shooter can easily become the front camera as well.

This rotating camera could make the N1 the perfect device for those that are addicted to taking selfies. It could also come in handy for those that need a high-quality camera for video chatting.

Although the camera is arguably the most important innovation found on the N1, the handset has also become the first smartphone to feature a built-in touchpad on the back of the device. Dubbed O-Touch, the touch sensitive phone back is designed to work with a multitude of gestures that will allow you to quickly change songs, take pictures and can even be programmed to accept custom actions.

Other specs and features

O-Touch and camera features aside, there's a lot to love with the Oppo N1. Here's a full list of specs straight from Oppo:

Cyanogenmod Support

While the list of specs above reveals the Oppo N1's default OS will be the new in-house developed "Color ROM", the Oppo N1 will also be CyanogenMod's first partner device since the ROM maker announced plans to go commercial.

Cyanogenmod will not be installed by default, but it will be optimized for the Oppo N1's hardware and will arrive as an optional ROM sometime later this year.

Pricing and availability

The Oppo N1 will be available sometime in October, starting at CN¥3,498 (roughly $570) – at least in China.

What about the international market? Considering both the Oppo Find 5 and R819 are sold in Europe and North America, we can pretty much expect the same from the Oppo N1. Oppo has yet to give any specific details as to its international plans, but we’d imagine the N1 will arrive sometime this holiday season.

So how about it, anyone interested in picking up the Oppo N1 when it arrives to a region near you?
