NVIDIA Tegra Note 7 teaser videos surface
Nov 11th 2013, 17:20, by Robert Nelson

NVIDIA dropped an official announcement for the Tegra Note tablet platform back in September. The key words here were tablet platform as NVIDIA will have partners selling the actual hardware. One partner example is ADVENT, who unveiled the Vega Tegra Note 7 last week. Regardless of the partner though, the hardware will remain the same and NVIDIA announced these with a price point of $199.

At the time of the original announcement, NVIDIA mentioned that some of the partners would include eVGA, PNY, Zotac and XOLO. Given this is from NVIDIA, you can expect Tegra. In this case, the tablet will be powered by a quad-core Tegra 4 processor. There will also be 2GB of RAM and a 7-inch display. NVIDIA also opted to include the DirectStylus technology.

That being the case, a pair of Tegra Note tablet videos have recently been shared by the folks at NotebookItalia and one of the two offers a rather detailed walkthrough of the stylus functionality. Not to mention, a look at the yet to be released Camera Awesome app. We have heard from SmugMug in the past about Camera Awesome (currently iOS only) coming to Android, however they have yet to offer a firm release date, or for that matter, release timeframe.

The second video (sitting below) is quite a bit shorter than the first. This one clocks in at just a little over two minutes and offers a more general look at the tablet itself. It shows the overall hardware and some of the features that relate, and again, the DirectStylus. Other goodies mentioned in this one include the speed for web browsing, which NVIDIA touts as being 50 percent faster than tablets of twice the price.

Anyway, that all having been said, we are expecting the Tegra Note to come available in other markets as well. We have yet to see anything official from NVIDIA (or partners), however NotebookItalia did mention a possible November 12th release date for the US market.

Thanks for the tip, Alvin Q

NVIDIA GameStream technology may come to the Mad Catz MOJO console
Nov 11th 2013, 16:31, by Robert Nelson

NVIDIA rolled out an update for the SHIELD a short time back. That one brought the system up to Android 4.3 and while that was a nice aspect, there were several other important aspects to the update. One of those others was something called GameStream. In the case of the NVIDIA SHIELD, GameStream mode means users can stream PC game to the handheld console.

NVIDIA was showing off GameStream mode before the update arrived for users and at the time, it was said that it has been optimized for game-speed WiFi with ultra low latency. This has the PC games streaming at up to 60 frames per second. Anyway, while this is an NVIDIA feature limited to the SHIELD at this time, it appears as if it may arrive with other systems.

Coming by way of the Engadget at Expand NY event which took place this past weekend, GameStream could be coming to the MOJO console from Mad Catz. There wasn’t much in the way of specifics just yet, however Alex Verrey, Mad Catz’ Global PR Director mentioned how they are talking to NVIDIA and “hope to enable GameStream soon after the launch of the console.”

Assuming no other company jumps forward with an announcement, this would have Mad Catz (and the MOJO) arriving as the first outside of NVIDIA to make use of GameStream mode. That being said, it does seem GameStream on the MOJO is more a matter of when as opposed to if at this point.

Further comments from Verrey touched on Steam, and in this case he mentioned that Mad Catz is “very excited for Steam” and they are looking at “all of these opportunities with interest.” With that, we have a hands-on demo of the SHIELD running GameStream with Console Mode in the video sitting below.

Moto X Moto Maker no longer an AT&T exclusive
Nov 11th 2013, 15:59, by Robert Nelson

Putting an end to the rumors and early sightings, Motorola has opened up the Moto Maker customizations for all four major US carriers this morning. Or in other words, customers outside of AT&T are now able to move forward and purchase a customized Moto X. Otherwise, the Moto X is priced at $99.99 on a two-year agreement and at the moment, the Moto Maker site is reflecting an estimated delivery of four days.

The Moto Maker process is broken down into a few steps beginning with the styling. This includes choosing the colors for the front, back and accents as well as adding a signature — aka, the engraving. Step two takes you to the features which includes options to set the internal storage, (16GB or 32GB), boot-up welcome message and wallpaper.

Step three then offers the option to add some accessories. A wall charger is included for free, however Motorola does allow you to choose between black or white. The other accessory options include a case and some headphones. Aside from the charger though, the remaining accessories all come with added expense.

Getting back to the most important aspect though — the design process. Moto Maker allows you to choose between 18 different colors for the back with either black or white for the front. You can also pick from 7 different colors for the accents. At this time the engraving doesn’t appear to add any extra time to the delivery. Finally, while the 16GB model is priced at $99.99, the 32GB model is $149.99.
