Moto X tipped to hit Verizon August 29th
Aug 13th 2013, 19:26, by Cory Gunther

As we all know, nothing is official until Verizon announces it themselves. And even then sometimes things still get delayed. The Moto X was revealed on August 1st and so far all we know is it’s coming to all major US carriers later this month. A few leaked screenshots revealed the 23rd was Verizon’s release date, but now the same source has new details showing a slight delay.

Last week we learned that Best Buy would have the Moto X available for purchase starting on August 23rd. However, that date appears to be incorrect, or no one at Best Buy (or Verizon) is exactly sure what the plan is. It appears the end of this month will be a crazy one with the Moto X, the Moto DROID lineup, and now the HTC One all for Verizon.

The same leakster and Best Buy outlet has leaked another internal inventory screenshot today, one which reveals the new release date for the Verizon Moto X has been moved to August 29th. And like we said above, nothing is official until it’s official. So yea, who knows at this point.

The image above provided by the folks at AndroidCentral is where this latest news is stemming from, and at this point it really is anyone’s guess as to what Verizon has planned. The image does state they’ll receive stock on the 15th, but won’t start offering it til the 29th. So maybe you can snag one early. Or maybe, just maybe, another carrier will have them first. Since Verizon usually is a little late to the game.

Motorola DROID ULTRA and MAXX shipping dates slip to late August
Aug 13th 2013, 18:27, by Cory Gunther

When the folks from Verizon initially announced the new DROID lineup of smartphones late last month, they made sure to point out the devices would be arriving on August 20th. This release and ship date was mirrored by Verizon’s webpage, but today it appears things aren’t quite on track. It looks like another Verizon device (HTC One anyone) isn’t arriving quite as soon as we expected.

Initial reports and rumors all stated early August, but Verizon and Motorola confirmed the 20th was the day back in New York City. However, this afternoon an eagle-eyed reader noticed the shipping dates for both the new Motorola DROID ULTRA and DROID MAXX have slipped about a week.

Instead of pre-order pages listing the smartphone as “will ship by 8/20″ they’ve now all been changed to the 27th of August, so it looks like we’ll have to wait about a week longer than expected. Either the phone has been delayed a week, or they’ve received so many pre-orders that shipping dates are slipping already. We’re inclined to think to former of the two.

So far the latest word is the release date is still set for August 20th, but until we hear anything more from Verizon we’re not exactly sure. Hopefully the device hits shelves on the 20th as planned, and online pre-orders have simply sold out. Did you order a new DROID?

Verizon HTC One revealed on newly launched teaser page
Aug 13th 2013, 18:15, by Robert Nelson

Verizon has yet to announce a release date for the HTC One, but it does appear as if they have just inched a bit closer to that point. A newly launched teaser page is showing the Verizon branded HTC One. While this page doesn’t include the release date or pricing details, it does show a nice image of what we can expect in terms of looks.

Simply put, the handset doesn’t look like it will be overloaded with Verizon and 4G LTE branding. Assuming this image remains accurate, the front of the handset will be clean and the only mention of Verizon and 4G LTE will be sitting on the back just above the Beats Audio logo. Otherwise, this page is your basic teaser page and offers nothing more than the promise of the handset coming “later this summer.”

The interesting part, Verizon has yet to link this one to the main page and instead it was discovered by the folks at GottaBeMobile through a simple search on the Verizon website. Looking back and we have seen a few dates rumored for the launch of the Verizon HTC One. Those dates have included August 15th and then later, August 29th.

But again, neither has been confirmed by Verizon or HTC. Those looking to the picture will notice the date on the handset is September 5th. We suppose that could be a potential release date, after all, it does fall within the “later this summer” timeframe. But then again, that date on the display of the phone idea hasn’t always lined up as well as one would hope.

All said and done, while the HTC One is a rather anticipated phone, it is just one of many that are heading to Verizon Wireless over the coming weeks. There is also the new DROID line including the Maxx, Ultra and Mini as well as the Moto X. We have already seen a release date for the new DROID line, however the Moto X is sitting in a similar position as the HTC One with no date and little more than a teaser page having been launched.

Google Glass video highlights directions and navigation
Aug 13th 2013, 17:48, by Cory Gunther

Getting directions for driving, cycling, and walking has always been rather easy using Google Maps on our smartphones, but today Google’s showing off an even easier way. How exactly can it get easier you ask? Using Google Glass and the always listening voice commands to quickly search for, find, and get directions for all your destinations.

We’ve been seeing quite a bit of Google Glass in the news as of late, especially with Google boosting the amount of these types of videos we’re seeing here today. Whether you’re using Glass to help you cook, learn technique while playing sports, or anything else, Glass makes it easier.

At least that’s what Google wants us to think. I personally love the idea, but we know it has its doubters. Today Google took to their G+ page and teased a nice video showing three different yet extremely use cases for Google Glass getting directions. Take a peek below.

This week Glass was updated to software version XE8, which brought new Google Now cards for nearby places, restaurants, and much more. While getting directions isn’t new with Glass, the new cards make it better and easier than ever. Now we just need them to be commercially available for that rumored $299 price point, then we’ll be happy.
