Sony Honami image leak details the handset in white
Aug 14th 2013, 15:18, by Robert Nelson

We have seen plenty of Sony Homani leaks, however as of today it looks like another has arrived. This latest however is showing the handset in yet another color. As you can likely see from the images included in this post — it appears as if the Sony Honami will also be available in white.

The pics come by way of the Chinese language Digi.wo site and include views of the front and back as well as the top and side. There is even one with the handset sitting side-by-side with the iPhone 5. We suspect many would have preferred that iPhone to have been an Android handset, but this does at least give us an idea of the size of the Honami.

Other items revealed in these images include the 3.5mm headphone jack on top, what appears to be the dedicated camera button on the right-hand side and the magnetic docking pins on the left-hand side. As with many of the earlier Honami rumors, this one also brings some discussion of the camera. An image clearly shows the back with the camera lens, flash and markings detailing it as 20.7 megapixels with a 1/2.3 sensor.

We also got another brief look at the camera setup. Basically, this brings further confirmation on the resolution. The image details a breakdown of the following; 20MP (4:3) at 5248 x 3936, 8MP (4:3) at 3264 x 2448, 8MP (16:9) at 3840 x 2160, 3MP (4:3) at 2048 x 1536 and 2MP (16:9) at 1920 x 1080. Some of the earlier leaks and benchmarks have pointed towards a Snapdragon 800 processor and a display resolution of 1920 x 1080.

The handset has also been rumored to feature a 3000 mAh battery, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. And in addition to this leak showing the handset in white, an earlier leak had shown the handset in purple. With that, we are expecting Sony to officially unveil the Homani during IFA in early-September.

HTC change campaign arrives with Robert Downey Jr and a tinfoil catamaran
Aug 14th 2013, 14:39, by Robert Nelson

We had been seeing the teasers from HTC and there was even a leaked video that surfaced last night but it looks like campaign has officially kicked off. HTC has posted the first video in the #HTChange campaign, the one featuring Robert Downey Jr. The video has arrived on various social sites this morning and measures in as a 2 minute video with HTC having Robert Downey Jr. do the explaining.

The problem is, we aren’t exactly sure that he managed to actually do any explaining. The video was slightly entertaining to watch, but simply continues with the play on the HTC name by saying that it can be “anything you want it to be.” Things begin with the helicopter ride, which now has been revealed as bringing in Robert Downey Jr. Once landed he heads in to a meeting where instead of being introduced, it was said that “subversive thinking has arrived.”

Robert Downey Jr. jumps right in with the HTC name play beginning with a humongous tinfoil catamaran. And this is where the entertaining part comes in, they actually show a humongous tinfoil catamaran as it sails away. Of course, while we have the catamaran, the video manages to tease the bit about HTC being anything you want it to be. Basically, it goes on to thrown around several other options as to what HTC could stand for including hipster troll carwash and hold this cat.

Needless to say, the video brings things back to what we have been seeing. Simply put, while this is the full-length video that HTC has been teasing, it seems they are still teasing and have closed the video with the now-familiar tagline of “here’s to change.” The question remains though, what is Robert Downey Jr. going to help HTC to change?

LG G Pad spec leaks points to an 8.3-inch tablet at 1920 x 1200
Aug 14th 2013, 14:05, by Robert Nelson

Talk of LG lately has been all about the recently announced G2 smartphone, however it looks like a new leak has brought another topic. It seems that LG has a tablet in the works. And slightly more intriguing, this tablet is expected to feature an 8.3-inch display and get an official unveiling during IFA in early September.

The details have been revealed by the Greek language Techblog who are reporting that due to a small bezel the tablet will be able to fit in a back pocket — despite it having an 8.3-inch display. Further talk of the display points towards a Full HD Plus resolution of 1920 x 1200. Other specs that have been revealed include a quad-core processor that will be paired with 2GB of RAM.

We have yet to see any specifics on the processor, however given the LG G2 was recently announced with a quad-core Snapdragon 800 — it seems likely the same could appear in this tablet. There was also talk of the tablet being “very thin and lightweight” but obviously, without specific numbers for the measurement and weight we are going to have to wait and see how that plays out. Sticking with the talk of the tablet being light, it is said to be made of aluminum.

The good news here, assuming that IFA announcement holds true it means we aren’t going to have to wait all that long for confirmation. Otherwise, similar to what we have recently seen from ASUS with the FonePad, the LG G Pad is expected to have support for voice calling. That bit by itself likely hints towards the tablet not coming available for those in the US. Though, with that in mind, there could be a variant with voice support and a second without voice support.

IFA 2013 takes place in Berlin and kicks off in early-September and Android Community will have plenty of coverage coming as a result of the event.
