LG launches Samsung tablet in Korea, names it the Homeboy
Aug 23rd 2013, 21:50, by Cory Gunther

The folks from LG have apparently launched a brand new 7-inch Android tablet in Kore. Only it is made by Samsung and is a rebranded and re-purposed Galaxy Note 3 device. To make more sense out of that title you read above, this is a tablet launched by LG for their own network that’s in Korea.

LGÀ¯Ç÷¯½º, Ȩº¸ÀÌ Ãâ½Ã

LG-owned Korean carrier Uplus this week has announced a brand new tablet that will be able to take full advantage of the carriers network, aside from the usual tablet activities. So what device is that. The Homeboy, which is a 7-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 from the sound of things.

We know they are rivals, in a way, so the news instantly was quite surprising here. Then again, LG has been out of the tablet game for quite a while, although reports have suggested their re-entry into Android tablets later this year.

The home part of the name is for all the activities it can do at home, aside from the usual web browsing. the homeboy will be a "smart-home device to replace conventional home appliances", and will let Koreans "access some 50 TV channels, movies, millions of music tracks and tens of thousands of e-books." So basically it does it all, sort of. The device can also connect to your smartphone and act as a CCTV, letting users of Uplus sign in and see what the homeboy camera is viewing. As a way to keep tabs on your home while away.

It’s pretty interesting to see LG partnering with Samsung on a tablet, but that most likely will change when they start making their own again.

Google Shops tipped to be arriving in Best Buy next year
Aug 23rd 2013, 21:20, by Cory Gunther

For those who are fans of Google Glass we have some potentially excellent news for you this week. A rather interesting and brief rumor was tossed around on Google+ yesterday by none other than Robert Scoble, who many probably know for taking the shower picture with Google Glass. According to Scoble, Google will be renting space from Best Buy for Google Glass.

We already know Google Glass won’t officially arrive until sometime in 2014, and we still don’t know exactly when or for how much. What we do know is that Google’s aiming for an early to mid 2014 release, and surely they will have stores for you to try them on, get fitted, and much more.

We’ve reported on Google Glass stores or shops in the past, being Google ran and operated, but Robert claims they might just setup shop right inside Best Buy stores across the US. Not only that but they’re renting around 6,000 square feet to get their products out and in the open.

This makes sense on multiple levels. For one to compete with the in-store Apple store, and to sell more than just Google Glass. All their Nexus devices and Google Play edition phones could be on display, people could test Google Glass, and of course get fittings right in the store. Again, this is only a rumor, but one that sounds pretty plausible.

Scoble later goes on to say his source mention "that Google was planning something 'dramatic'." Add this to rumors of a $300 price tag, and Glass is sounding more and more like a possibility for many.

Sony Xperia i1 Honami surfaces in another round of leaked images
Aug 23rd 2013, 20:45, by Robert Nelson

This sort of comes with little in terms of surprise at this point, but it looks like there has been some additional Honami related leaks. This time around we are seeing another image of the handset in a variety of colors. Nothing all that surprising given the color aspect has already been discussed, but as you can see below — there is now the white, black and purple models sitting side-by-side in one single image.

Of course, as you can see the focus is on the white and purple models as the black model is facing front. The image comes by way of the Chinese language digi-wo and as noted — we are still expecting Sony to offer the official announcement on September 5th. Sony has previously confirmed an event for the 5th, however they have yet to offer any specifics in terms of what they will be talking about.

Aside from this colorful image of the Honami, there has also been another part related image leak. This other comes by way of ETrade Supply and was discovered by the folks at nowhereelse.fr. Not much is revealed by these pics, however if you had been hoping to see some pictures of the bezel of the Honami you are in luck.

Otherwise, the talk of the Honami seems to be shifting towards a more proper handset name, the Sony Xperia i1. Perhaps more exciting as compared to the leaks — Sony has recently begun offering some teasers of their own. They recently posted an image on Twitter with the hashtag of #bestofSony. The image doesn’t offer much of a look, but we suppose that is what a teaser is supposed to do.

At present the latest leaked and rumors specs show a handset that will arrive sporting a 5-inch 1080p display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and 20 megapixel rear-facing camera. There has been some debate on which version of Android the handset will launch with, but other specs look to include 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage and a 3000 mAh battery. And remember, we will be live on-site in Berlin to bring the latest news from IFA.
