Pandora listeners are getting a nice surprise. During yesterday’s earnings call, executives announced that they would be lifting the 40-hour monthly mobile listening cap they put in place in February. CEO Mike Herring says it is for two reasons – one being that the cap was used as a “blunt tool” to limit usage and cost, but the company has since developed more “surgical techniques.” The second reason is that since the mobile cap was put in place, usage dropped 10 percent.
If you remember, this is the second time they have put in place, and then lifted a cap. The last time was in September 2011.
