Sep 18th 2013, 14:05, by Robert Nelson

AT&T has confirmed the upcoming release of the Samsung Galaxy S III Mini. The handset will be available as of September 27th and pre-orders will be available as of tomorrow, September 19th. AT&T will have the Galaxy S III Mini priced at $0.99 on a two-year agreement and it will bring features to include a 4.0-inch display, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and 4G LTE connectivity.

Basically, the Galaxy S III Mini is arriving as a low priced option for those looking for something with LTE and Jelly Bean. The 4.0-inch display (and overall smaller size) may also be appealing to some given other Android handsets have been getting larger and larger over time.

The Galaxy S III Mini will be powered by a dual-core 1.2GHz processor. Other specs will include 1GB of RAM and a 1500 mAh battery along with a VGA quality front-facing camera and 5 megapixel rear-facing camera with LED flash. Of course, the usual array of Samsung specifics will also be included (thanks to TouchWiz).

These goodies include S Beam and S Voice as well as Group Play, Smart Stay and for those looking for something a bit less complicated — Easy Mode. And as one would expect, AT&T is pushing the Galaxy S III Mini as being “an elegant, compact smartphone at a budget friendly price.”

In comparison, the regular-sized Galaxy S III is priced at $99.99 (on a two-year agreement) with AT&T. That model sports a 4.8-inch display along with 2GB of RAM, a 2100 mAh battery and 8 megapixel rear-facing camera with LED flash.

LG Optimus Vu III case appears ahead of handset
Sep 18th 2013, 13:41, by Robert Nelson

LG unveiled a case for the G2 shortly before the official announcement for the handset. And while that could have been considered nothing more than a one-off error with timing, it looks like it has happened once again. This time we are seeing an official LG case for the yet to be announced LG Vu III.

We have been seeing some rumors and leaks surrounding the Vu III, however as of today it looks like LG has unveiled a case for the handset. There are a few images of the case, but otherwise the details are still on the lighter side. These cases for the Vu III appear to following a recent trend in that notifications from the phone will be presented on the case itself.

Otherwise, these cases are available in black and silver and those visiting the LG link towards the bottom of this post will get the full look — which is basically being able to see some of the different pictures that will show up for notifications. With that, we have yet to see any pricing for these and there isn’t anything further in terms of the handset itself.

Looking back to some of the earlier rumors and we recently learned that LG could be announcing the Vu III later this month. According to a report coming out of Korea, the LG Vu III will be announced this month and available for purchase in October. It was said that LG is planning the release (and pricing) to compete with the Samsung Galaxy Note 3.

At present we have yet to see a complete set of specs leak for the Vu III. What we have seen does point towards the handset keeping the same 4:3 aspect ratio. Other details point towards the display measuring in at 5.2-inches with a resolution of 1280 x 960. Finally, the Vu III is also expected to have a 13 megapixel rear-facing camera and Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor.

NVIDIA Tegra Note tablet platform gets official for $199
Sep 18th 2013, 13:00, by Cory Gunther

The Android tablet market is about to get a massive shake up from the folks at NVIDIA. Many of you have probably seen the leaks of the NVIDIA Tegra Tab, and today we’re getting all the details. They aren’t selling it, instead they’ve built an entire platform around the Tegra 4 quad-core processor, and their partners like eVGA (from the PC space) will be selling impressive tablets starting at $199.

The reason we say this is about to shake up the tablet market is because of a few key aspects. For one, these will be well-rounded Android tablets designed, built, and even updated (likely stock Android like the NVIDIA SHIELD) all by NVIDIA. This means amazing performance on stock Android tablets, ones that will get fast updates. Their launch partners such as eVGA, PNY, Zotac, and even XOLO will all be offering these impressive tablets starting at $199.

It’s like the HTC One tablet we’ll never get. Check out those speakers. The NVIDIA Tegra Note platform is an end-to-end solution. It will be a 7-inch HD tablet with the quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 4 processor and 2GB of RAM, front-facing PureAudio speakers, full stylus support with NVIDIA DirectStylus technology, NVIDIA’s Chimera camera tech which looks extremely stunning, and last but not least full gaming support with their TegraHD and TegraZone certified games.

Previous leaks showed micro-SD support, HDMI-out, and a pretty big battery. NVIDIA is even promising 10 hours of hardcore gaming on these new devices. Last year NVIDIA announced the “Kai” reference design delivering quad-core tablets to the budget market. Which became the ASUS Nexus 7 we all know and love. With the Tegra Note however, it isn’t a reference design, it’s an entire Android tablet platform manufacturers can jump into at a low price. Not just the hardware.

This means we can expect to see some quality Tegra 4 quad-core 7-inch gaming tablets from some of the top gaming companies in the PC space all delivering awesome Android tablets, starting at $199. There will be additional storage options and faster units at a higher price, but that $199 starting point sounds pretty awesome already.

NVIDIA promises that these new tablets should start arriving in the next month from multiple retail partners, which means I might be able to get an eVGA Tegra Tab for $199 for all my gaming needs. Yes please!
