Pressy surpases latest stretch goal, adds Pressy-to-Talk feature
Sep 18th 2013, 16:18, by Robert Nelson

Pressy launched as a Kickstarter campaign several weeks back and it looks like they have not only surpassed the initial goal, but also topped the $500,000 stretch goal. The campaign currently has 26 days remaining and have raised $525,589 towards that initial goal of $40,000. As to what the $500k stretch goal means — push-to-talk capability.

This feature has been dubbed Pressy-To-Talk and means users will be able to, well, press-to-talk. This will be done using a yet to be specified “huge player in the VoIP market.” And to add a bit of further good news for those who may have already backed the project, this is not expected to cause any shipping delays.

Anyway, this stretch goal aside, Pressy originally launched on Kickstarter with the promise of being able to turn your headphone jack into a shortcut button. This is being touted as the “almighty Android button” and it will ship with a set of pre-configured options. Users will also be able to do a bit of customizing by way of the Pressy app that will be available from the Play Store.

Those pre-configured options include one short click to toggle the flashlight, one long click to switch your phone in and out of silent and a double click to take a picture. Some of the other potential use cases include being able to start voice recording, change other settings, check-in on social networks, record phone calls and even sending your current location.

Pressy still has nearly a month left on Kickstarter and at this time there are several backing options remaining.

The Monster M7 will have a non-skid surface and the colors will include Candy Blueberry, Candy Tangerine Orange, Candy Grape Purple, Candy Apple Red, Candy Lime Green, Cotton Candy Pink, Frost White and Midnight Black. Those familiar with the Monster line of N-Tune headphones may recognize these colors as they will be matching. Despite having matching color schemes though, the headphones will not be included with purchase of a tablet.

Aside from the colors, the Monster M7 tablet will have features to include 16GB of storage along with a microSD card slot, 1GB of RAM and a dual-core 1.5GHz processor. The tablet will have a display resolution of 1280 x 800 and also feature a 5 megapixel rear-facing camera, 2 megapixel front-facing camera, Bluetooth 4.0, mini-HDMI and a battery life of up to 8 hours by way of the 4000 mAh battery.

In addition to connecting the M7 color lineup with the N-Tune headphones, Monster is using this tablet as another way to control the (sold separately) power modules. These will be controlled with the Monster Center Power Control app and they are basically smart plugs that allow the user to remotely control and automate some of their electronics.

Otherwise, the tablet will be running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and come with full access to the expected Google apps including the Play Store.

That all being said, while Monster has also announced the M10, the details are light. At this time they have said the M10 tablet will be available in the fall and that the price and specs will be announced at a later time.

BBM for Android again tipped for release this Friday
Sep 18th 2013, 15:16, by Robert Nelson

The BBM release date rumors continue. At this point it seems likely they will continue right up until the time the app lands in the Play Store. Before that happens though, it looks like we have another post dealing with the potential release date. This latest comes by way of the Indonesian language TecknoUp who have recently shared what appears to be an invite to a BBM launch event.

In addition to the invite itself, there were also some details in terms of the release plans. Basically, it is looking like BBM for Android will be arriving in the Play Store this coming Friday. The details point towards the release coming at 7AM EST on Friday, September 20th.

Aside from Android, that 7AM EST time is also when BBM.com is expected to go live and when messages will be sent out to those who pre-registered interest in the app. While we focus on Android here, there was also talk about the app coming to iOS. And in this case, it looks like Apple users will have an extra day of waiting. It was said that BBM will be coming to iOS on September 21st at 12:01 EST.

All that being said, aside from the details coming from TecknoUp, the folks at CrackBerry have also said they have “received quite a few emails that do suggest the date is correct.” Simply put, it looks like BBM is finally going cross-platform this week. The interesting thing will be to see how well adopted that app will be. We expect to see decent numbers in terms of initial downloads, however long term adoption is what we are more curious about.

Madfinger Games confirms Dead Trigger 2 Android release date
Sep 18th 2013, 14:47, by Robert Nelson

Coming out of the Tokyo Game Show, Madfinger Games has confirmed the release date for Dead Trigger 2. This of course, is the long-awaited follow-up to Dead Trigger which was released back in the summer of 2012. But perhaps more important here, the game will be available beginning on October 23rd. Madfinger Games will have the game available by way of the Play Store and it will be free-to-play.

First things first, those not familiar with Dead Trigger should know that this is a first person zombie shooter game. Madfinger Games describes is as being a game “where humanity is engaged in a battle against zombies for control of the Earth.” Further details have Dead Trigger 2 being a game that is “played out in real time.”

"This real time and never-ending story will be affected by the behavior of every single player," explains Marek Rabas, CEO at Madfinger Games.

It was also said that players should expect to see “above-standard graphics” and that the game will be global. Or in other words, players will be fighting against local zombies in Shanghai, London or in the middle of the desert far away in Africa.

While this news is confirming the release date for Dead Trigger 2, this isn’t the first time we have seen details on the game itself. There has been plenty of speculation and rumor, not to mention, the teasers that have come direct from Madfinger Games over the previous months. And on top of that, we spent a bit of hands-on time with Dead Trigger 2 for the NVIDIA SHIELD back in March.

Lastly, in addition to the Android release, Dead Trigger 2 will also arrive for iOS as well as Mac, Steam and Facebook on October 23rd. The game will be free-to-play across all platforms.
