Even if you're just remotely familiar with mobile technology, you've probably heard of ARM, the British semiconductor company that designs the processors inside most mobile devices today.

ARM doesn't manufacture chips of its own; to make money, the company relies on licensing deals with actual chipmakers, such as Qualcomm, Nvidia, or Samsung. Some companies license the entire CPU or GPU core design, while others, such as Apple, have a license on ARM's architecture and design their own processor cores.

ARM is best known for its Cortex-A series, such as Cortex-A7 and Cortex-A15, which are at the heart of every single popular mobile device out there. But the company also designs the Cortex-M series of ultra low-power processors for embedded applications, and the Cortex-R series, used in embedded systems where more processing power is needed. In addition to that, ARM also dabbles in designing GPUs and other specialized chips, like the Secure Core inside your credit card.

To highlight the multitude of applications that can benefit from integration with its products, ARM put together a couple of interesting promotional videos. Check them out.

What's exciting about these videos is that they foretell a future that is just around the corner. Most of the applications that ARM showcased here are already technically feasible and, in just a few years, they could become commonplace.
