Pantech Vega Note 5.9-inch announcement expected soon
Oct 2nd 2013, 16:06, by Robert Nelson

Pantech appears ready to announce the 5.9-inch Vega Note. Event invitations have recently been sent ahead of an October 10th announcement. The specs have yet to be fully detailed for the Vega Note, however it is expected to arrive sharing many of the same features as the recently announced Vega LTE-A. And yes, that includes a fingerprint reader on the backside of the handset.

The fingerprint reader is teased in the event invite. Otherwise, the invite only offers a look at the upper half of the back of the handset. The wax seal shown in the invite is believed to be hiding that fingerprint reader, at least based on reports coming from the Korean press. Otherwise, the Vega Note is expected to bring features to include a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor with 2GB of RAM and running Android 4.2.2 with LTE-A support.

That last bit should offer some idea in terms of a release. Or in other words, we are not expecting this to see a widespread global release. Similar to the Vega LTE-A, the Vega Note will likely be available only for those in Korea. While display size seems to be growing, not every phablet sized phone has a stylus. Pantech is expected to have a stylus included with the Vega Note though.

Some of the other specs are still missing from the rumors, however given the other similarities with the Vega LTE-A — we may be able to look towards that model for some hints. Or at the very least, for some hope. The Vega LTE-A also has a 3100 mAh battery with a feature called fast charge. This is said to allow the user to fully charge the battery in just 94 minutes.

Otherwise, the Vega LTE-A also has options for 16GB or 32GB of internal storage and color options to include black and white. Lastly, the Vega LTE-A was also announced with some accessories. One of those was a smart cover that is similar to what we recently saw from LG and basically means you will be able to get some notifications and alerts even without opening the cover. Of course, that isn’t the first smart cover we have seen, Samsung also has a similar offering for what appears to be a competing device — the Galaxy Note 3.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear arrive with T-Mobile
Oct 2nd 2013, 15:28, by Robert Nelson

T-Mobile opened up pre-orders for the Galaxy Note 3 earlier in the month, however as of today the handset has officially arrived. And in addition to the Galaxy Note 3, T-Mobile has also announced the Galaxy Gear smartwatch is available. The details were shared on the official T-Mobile Twitter account and a quick visit to the website reveals a new level in terms of pricing.

The carrier had previously said the Note 3 would be available with an initial downpayment of $199.99 and 24 monthly payments of $21. As of today we are seeing a no money down offer as being available. This one does bring the monthly price up a bit, but it may be easier for some to not pay the initial $200. Anyway, this would mean 24 monthly payments of $29.50.

Otherwise, those looking to ditch the payments also have the option to grab the handset at full retail, which in this case would be $708. Of course, regardless of the route you take, T-Mobile has the Note 3 available for use with any of the Simple Choice plans. Aside from the Note 3, the Galaxy Gear smartwatch is also available with a price of $299.99. Similar to the Note 3, the Galaxy Gear is available in black and white.

That all being said, while the pricing and availability news has come direct from T-Mobile, it does appear as if they are still working out some kinks on the website. At present the Galaxy Note 3 is showing as being available in black. The white model has an out-of-stock reference and the Galaxy Gear page is still showing some errors.
