Samsung PEN.UP app brings social networking to S Pen
Oct 2nd 2013, 03:59, by Juan Carlos Torres

Samsung is introducing a new app with an old concept for its stylus-enabled smartphones. The new PEN.UP Android app brings in a touch of social networking to connect creatives and doodlers all over the world to showcase, share, and inspire one another with masterpieces made using their S Pen.

Social networking is undeniably a part of the connected life today and our devices are full of services catering to various forms and and content such as text statuses, music, videos, and photos. A service dedicated especially to artwork and sketches, especially on mobile devices are, on the other hand, rare and few in between. Samsung, who has taken the stylus seriously with its S Pen, is probably in the best position to try and fill in that vacuum.

PEN.UP is a social networking service like any other. Uses can setup their personal feeds containing their latest works of art or ideas. Of course, they can also follow the activities of other users of the service as well. Images can be grouped thematically into Series. Interestingly, PEN.UP also displays a competitive streak with its Hall of Fame leaderboard-type system, where members vie for the top spot and the title of being the best of the best.

The app is available for free but is most likely compatible with a limited number of Samsung’s S Pen devices, such as the Galaxy Note II. It is, however, tipped to come pre-installed on the new Galaxy Note 3.

Sony's Pinball Rocks HD now jamming on Android
Oct 2nd 2013, 03:32, by Juan Carlos Torres

Pinball is commonly a game associated bright colors, clashing metal, and hand or finger smashing action. And what accompaniment would be better than heart-thumping rock music from Sony Music’s own collection featured in this new Pinball Rocks HD game.

Turn it inside-out, upside-down, and any other direction, Pinball Rocks HD is, at its very essence, simply a rock-themed pinball game. Sony Music debuted the game last June on iOS with a promise of a summer release for Android. The game has now descended on Google Play Store and fans of some of the greatest rock bands can jam to the sound of their favorite pieces while keeping that metal ball from falling into the pits.

Pinball Rocks HD features five free rock club-themed tables, four of which come from hit bands such as Alice in Chains, Bullet For My Valentine, AC/DC, and Slayer. Those four tables, however, are only demos and users will have to cough up some dough to buy them in full. There are also addition songs available for purchase from the bands, as well as the usual variety of in-game bonuses and extra lives. You can watch the trailer released by Sony for the launch of Pinball Rocks HD on iOS below.

In terms of gameplay, Pinball Rocks HD doesn’t really have much difference from other games of its kind aside from the ability to change camera angles. The game is free on Google Play Store for users to try and rock music lovers to rock their hearts out.
