After what started out as an exclusive relationship between HTC and T-Mobile USA, the myTouch series has evolved to include LG.  Looking ahead a bit it appears that Huawei is next in line to offer a pair of smartphones bearing the carrier's signature line.
Pocketnow (who else) has obtained a pair of images which show Huawei's take on the myTouch series, one with a sliding QWERTY, and the other without.  At first glance these could easily be mistaken for HTC models as the even have the slight curved lip that came with the early editions.
Both model numbers (U8680, U8730) appear to have a 4-inch display size and bear a skinned version of Android 2.3 Gingerbread. If these are to be considered successors to the LG models then we may see prices in the range of $100 for the Huawei myTouch smartphones.
We're becoming increasingly more fond of Huawei's products of late and admire T-Mobile for going with them for the myTouch handsets of 2012.

HTCDev has announced, via their blog, that they have released a handful of APIs for Android developers.  Timed with the company's Mobile World Congress announcements of the HTC One and the Developer Preview, these new tools give devs access to some of HTC's standout features.
The new APIs include:
  • Beats Audio API
  • Lockscreen API
  • Mobile Device Management API
  • And soon a HTC MediaLink HD API
Should you developers want to enhance your media player or app with Beats Audio technology or tie it into the lockscreen  with quick access then this is where you will start.  Additionally, the APIs also help developers to take advantage of dual screen capabilities using Wireless HDMI out to a television.
According to HTCDev, the OpenSense SDK will be updated in the next few weeks so be sure to keep your eyes peeled for that as well.

Word on the street today is that Samsung's much-anticipated Galaxy S III is slated for a March announcement followed by an April launch. The news of this comes from ZDNet Korea who allegedly confirmed the time frame with Samsung's advertising and marketing firm Cheil Worldwide. The company is said to be planning a massive UK ad campaign centered around the summer Olympics.
This isn't the first time we've heard the rumors of an Olympic tie-in for advertising and  it would make sense for Samsung to go big this summer.  With the entire planet watching and an expected worldwide launch, Samsung could hit us over the head with Galaxy S III campaigns.
Given the recently leaked specifications I imagine that there would be plenty of interest in the new flagship model.  Details for the smartphone include Android 4.0, a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, a 4.8-inch 1080p high-definition display, and ceramic case.
How many of you are holding out for the Galaxy S III this year?  Are you skipping the current lineup just to get your hands on the new hotness?

Samsung has already sold two million Galaxy Notes in the few months since it made its late fall debut.  According to an article on Forbes from a few days ago, Samsung is hoping to sell 10 million of the 5.3-inch handsets by the end of 2012.
We'll have to wait a bit to see just how well AT&T's model does but it stands to reason that the international version and Ma Bell's edition won't be enough to manage that many sales.  Perhaps we're in store for a Verizon, Sprint, or T-Mobile flavor?  Or all of the above?
