Update - 259

Posted: 20 Mar 2012 03:43 PM PDT
There are a lot of news apps on the Google Play Store, each with its own level of sharing options. Most of us (myself included) simply read an article or watch a video, and then share it to our preferred social network. That's all well and good, but what if the news that we shared was more than just news? Flud News, a new app that just hit the Play Store, might just help change the way Android users look at news.
Basically, every user has a "news personality." Every article or news piece that you share helps to determine what kind of news you like to read about, such as movies or cars. This leads Flud to suggest friends and followers who are interested in the same news. Users can even see what friends are reading, and share those articles if they so desire. Flud also has Google Reader, Twitter, and Facebook integration, so you'll always have the latest news at your fingertips.
There are tons of other great features, which you should really check out for yourself. Flud News is free from the Play Store, so what are you waiting for? You can download the app  by using the box below. The full press release can also be found after the break.
So has anyone tried Flud yet? What do you think? Sound off in the comments!

We've noticed that HTC is trying their best to bring an amazing experience to their customers as of late. The HTC One X was the king of the show at MWC, and it's one of the most anticipated devices of 2012. HTC is already in partnership with BeatsAudio, bringing the best music experience to their Android phones. On the other hand, they also made a deal with DropBox, that guaranteed anyone who buys a HTC One series smartphone will also get a 25GB free storage for 2 years.
Now HTC has partnered with the famous remote access company LogMeIn, and they will be bringing remote support to some HTC Android phones. LogMeIn Rescue remote support will be available in all future HTC devices, and it will allow users to connect their device to HTC customer care staff, which we thought was pretty impressive. And once the device is remotely connected, an HTC representative will be able to diagnose and fix the problem. Obviously this service will use quite a bit of data, so a 4G or WiFi connection is probably a good idea. It's HTC's aim to offer "the best and most personal customer experience in the mobile industry," and after this announcement, they seem to be doing very well.
So, now that HTC has gotten friendly with Beats Audio, DropBox, and LogMeIn, do you think the One X will be the superstar of 2012? Drop a comment below!

Once upon a time, Windows Mobile dominated the smartphone space, offering up a plethora of different device types for a variety of occupations, including those in extreme environments. Fast-forward a few years and it's obvious this has changed, given Windows Mobile's absence from the mobile OS space. While Apple has a firm hold in the medical field, their shiny iDevices don't translate well to fields where a rugged nature is required. This leaves a void for the infinitely adaptable Android system to step into,  and it does so with gusto in manufacturer Getac's new PS326 handset. The PS326 is a monster of a device, featuring IP67 and MIL-STD-810G certifications for protection from dust, water, and hard impact, as well as:
  • Android 2.2
  • a 3.5-inch VGA display, readable in direct sunlight with a pressure-sensitive touchscreen (as opposed to the standard capacitive)
  • MicroSD card slot
  • USB 2.0 support
  • Bluetooth
  • GPS
  • 3MP auto-focus camera
  • Built-in electronic compass
  • Altimeter, for measuring altitude
With such a portfolio based on durability, the Getac PS326 is sure to garner some sales to the right people. Granted, the fact that it's launching with Froyo isn't exactly exciting.
Regardless, do you think the PS326 would benefit you in your line of work? Are you just a really clumsy person that wants a rugged Android device? Let us know in the comments! The full press release can be found below.

Then again... we do see one "X" in the picture below.  How's that for stretching?
So that's where we turn it over to you for your guidance and wisdom!  What will Sprint and HTC announce on April 4th?

After giving LG a chance with the MyTouch line, it seems that T-Mobile wasn't impressed. We recently discovered that T-Mobile has chosen Huawei as their next MyTouch series partner, and we saw some render shots as well. Our friends over at TmoNews managed to get their hands on some shots of the rumored Huawei MyTouch device, and it actually looks fairly nice. The device above is the non-QWERTY version, which is expected to hit the shelves in the coming months.
Something tells us that the Huawei MyTouch won't blow anyone away with its WVGA 800 x 400 resolution display. No word on a processor or Android version, but we're not holding our breath for anything spectacular.
So after a long relation with HTC, and then LG, do you think Huawei can bring the MyTouch line back to life? Should Magenta just give up on the series and focus more on getting ICS to newer devices? Sound off in the comments below!

Last month at Mobile World Congress, HTC launched the HTC One V, a low-end, affordable device. We recently reported that the device will be hitting some regional carriers in the States, and it seems it will be happening soon. The folks over at PocketNow are reporting that Virgin Mobile will launch it later this year.
The One V (the 'V' representing 'value') is a nice little handset that reminds us of an HTC Legend, with better specs and ICS. The One V is packing a 1GHz single core processor, ICS with HTC Sense 4, a 3.7-inch WVGA display, 512MB of RAM, a 5MP camera, and of course that Beats Audio integration that HTC showed off at MWC. There's been no confirmation or denial about the device from Virgin Mobile, so we'll just have to sit tight until we hear something.
If it does land on Virgin, we'll probably be looking at an April or May launch, at the earliest. So is anyone excited to possibly be getting the HTC One V? Drop a comment below!

Today's turning out to be a pretty big day for the guys over at Gameloft.  After having just announced that they will optimize a number of games for the LG Optimus 3D Max, Gameloft has a new title on the way.  Look for an official Men in Black 3 game to arrive in time for the theatrical release at the end of May.  Expected to be a freemium app, the title will let players interact with some of the famous aliens from the MiB films as well as some of the popular tools and weapons.  Yeah, that means you get to play with the Noisy Cricket and the Neuralyzer.

Sony today announced their first Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich smartphone, the Xperia Neo L MT25i.  Arriving as a successor to 2011's Xperia Neo  and Neo V, this one features moderate improvements on the hardware front.  The Neo L will be available in black and white editions and features a single-core 1 GHz Qualcomm MSM8255 CPU,  a 4.0-inch FWVGA (854 x 480) display, a 5-megapixel (720p video) camera, and 1,500 mAh battery. If someone is looking to buy or sell a car, chances are some research will need to be done for pricing and reviews to make sure they're getting the most for their money (and not a lemon). In this regard, Kelley Blue Book has been the most popular source for years, a distinction that's carrying over into the Android Play Store and garnering the kbb.com app an impressive 1 million downloads. Besides all of the information you'd expect it to have from the site, such as reviews and pricing information, the app also has a built-in dealer locator, interactive 360 degree car photos, video reviews, and a direct view of Kelley Blue Book's Twitter feed. Having just purchased a car myself, I can tell you that this is a handy app to have to ensure you're getting the best car, as well as the best deal.
Click below for a link to the app, and let us know in the comments: Has Kelley Blue Book helped you out in any car buying or selling lately? Also, do you have a free Ferrari for a grateful poor writer?

Sharp announced a new Android-based tablet this week however it's not anything you'll likely be jumping up and down over.  Joining the 7-inch RW-T10 comes the bigger, 10-inch RW-T110 with Android 2.3 under the hood.  Yeah, that's 2010's Gingerbread for those of you keeping track at home.
In terms of hardware, the Sharp tablet doesn't sound all that terrible with specs that include a 1GHz TI OMAP processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB of internal storage, a 1280 x 800 10-inch display, NFC support, and a 6240mAh battery.
There's no indication that the RW-T110 will come to the United States anytime soon however this is exactly the type of tablet that would get lost in the shuffle.  Even though there isn't a runaway device that owns the Android tablet landscape, this aged version of the platform won't help the cause.

I personally believe that Sony is one of the most elegant brands in the world. For example, their hardware quality and unique products are superb. They recently launched the Sony Tablet P, which is the first tablet with a folding dual-screen display. One of Sony's downsides though, is that their devices are expensive. It seems that Sony is planning to launch a successor to Sony Tablet S, and it will feature a Tegra 3 processor along with Android 4.0. It was spotted in a NenaMark benchmark test entry with model number V150.
It's reported that it will feature the same resolution as Sony Tablet S, 1280×800. The only major improvement seen when compared to Tablet S is the Tegra 3 processor and Android 4.0. It's likely that the rest of the specs will be same. We'll just have to wait for Sony to come out and clear the air.
Anyway, if Sony launches this tablet, are you going to purchase it? Tell us in the comment box below.

In what's becoming a pretty regular occurrence, another ZTE smartphone has inched one step closer to release with a U.S. carrier.  This time around it's the N910 passing through the FCC  with a little bit of LTE support in tow.  Although we could be a few weeks or months from anyone making an announcement, Engadget surmises that this would make for a good offering on a regional carrier.
Specifications for the ZTE N910 include a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 4.3-inch WVGA display, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and that LTE connectivity. As companies like MetroPCS and Cricket Wireless begin to deploy an LTE network, this could be a low-cost choice for consumers.

Yet another rumor has surfaced in the lead-up to the official announcement of the Samsung Galaxy S III smartphone.  This time around we're dealing with the charging technology for the handsets.  Korea's DDaily is reporting (translate) that the new flagship device will feature wireless inductive charging directly out of the box, much like Palm smartphones did a few years back.  What's more, it's said that the handset will be able to juice up even when it's not physically touching the charging surface.  Expected to be some form of patented/proprietary technology, the Galaxy S III may charge even up to 1-2 meters away.

Like this, only better.
Should this pan out to be a legitimate rumor, Samsung would have a wonderful selling feature for what is expected to be a robust device.  Imagine how easy it would be to "sell" someone on a phone that charges whenever it's within a few feet of the office desk or nightstand.
